PrimeTime Shootout Preview (NJ High School Basketball Tournament)

Kentucky freshman Karl-Anthony Towns while a senior at St. Joseph High School.

Going to a Nets game in Brooklyn is not as easy as going to East Rutherford or Newark while living Hoboken. In their third year in Brooklyn, I’ve attended one Nets game, where I used to go to a dozen in the swamp.

I’ve decided to remedy my live basketball fix by checking out high school games. It so happens that my friend went to the Primetime Shootout, a high school basketball tournament in Roselle NJ — a mere 16 miles from home.

Past appearances have included superstars such as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard.

Last year, I checked out Karl-Anthony Towns — a 6’10” freshman playing for Kentucky, and currently projected to go third in Chad Ford’s ESPN mock draft and fourth in DraftExpress.

This year will be no different as there will be three players in the top 20 of ESPN’s top 100 high school seniors in the country appearing. Here’s breakdown.
